we'll be going from this to:

difficulty: moderate?
translatable: probably not [uses selective color]
program: photoshop cs4
steps: 16

1. Duplicate your background layer. Go to Image > Apply Image & set the Blending to Screen. Set that layer to Soft Light 75%

2. Make a new color fill layer with #251f29. Set it to Exclusion 85%.

3. Duplicate your background layer & bring it to the top. Set it to Soft Light 41%.

4. Make a new selective color layer.
Reds: -38, +4, -48, -1
Yellows: -25, +19, -27, +4
Cyans: +55, -13, -30, +4
Blues:: +15, +8, -18, +14
Whites: +2, +13, -5, -27
Neutrals: -2, +2, -2, -10
Blacks: 0, 0, 0, -2

5. Make a new gradient map layer. Pick the black&white gradient (it should be third). Set that layer to Multiply 16%.

6. Make a new Exposure layer.
Exposure: -0.23
Offset: -0.0131
Gamma: 1.37

7. Make a new Photo Filtre layer.
Filter: Sepia
Density: 25%

8. Make a new Curves layer.
First dot:
Output: 149
Input: 137

Second dot:
Output: 168
Input: 157

9. Make a new Levels layer.
RGB: 26, 1.21, 246

10. Make a new Color Balance layer.
Midtones: +15, +6, -5

11. Now add this texture. Set it to Lighten 100%.

12. Add this texture. Set to Lighten 100%.

13. Take this texture. Set to Lighten 77%.

14. I'm just doing this so the notepaper effect doesn't look weird. xD Make a new blank layer. Go to Image > Apply Image & set the Blending to Normal. Then go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal.

15. Take this texture. Set to Darken 100%.

16. Add your text/brushes/whatever, & you're done :]

I hope you liked this. Any questions/concerns, don't be afraid to ask, & I'd love to see what you come out with. ;D
